With a spirit that is as much southern preacher as it is rocker, (Jason) Downing and company plow through some of the headiest freak and roll this side of the Crowes, and Straight Razor Revival shows the band at its strongest, whether they’re singing about catching catfish, or deep social change.
The album’s seven tracks range in both musical intensity and lyrical theme, but present everything fans hope for and love about Musketeer Gripweed’s music. The sounds range from distorted swampy blues to sunny guitar riffs reminiscent of the Allman Brothers Band."….
Gripweed was in full force at the 2012 SXSW in Austin, TX, performing 3 shows in 2 days at this legendary festival. The SpokesBuzz showcase was a highlight as Gripweed played on the rooftop stage before fellow Crescendo Artists, Greensky Bluegrass.
